DAY 1: HA GIANG CITY – QUAN BA HEAVEN GATE – THAM MA PASS – DONG VAN (135 KM)

08:00 – 08:30: Meet your guide at the Mapi Adventures office for a welcome briefing. After a short introduction to the tour, organize your luggage and get ready to leave the city behind.

09:00: Ride towards Bac Sum Pass, the first series of winding mountain roads leading to the spectacular Dong Van Karst Plateau. This scenic climb offers your first taste of Ha Giang’s breathtaking landscapes.

10:30: Stop at Quan Ba Heaven Gate, one of the province’s most iconic viewpoints. Admire the panoramic valley below and the famous Twin Fairy Mountains emerging through the morning mist.

12:30: Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch in Yen Minh Town, a peaceful mountain town surrounded by pine forests.

14:00: Continue along the legendary Tham Ma Pass, renowned for its perfectly shaped M-curve and dramatic mountain scenery. Once used to test the strength of horses, it is now one of the Loop’s most photographed roads.

15:30: Visit the historic Hmong King’s Palace (Vuong Chinh Duc Residence) in Sa Phin Valley. Discover the fascinating story of the Hmong royal family while exploring this unique fortress blending Chinese, French, and Hmong architecture.

17:00: Arrive in Dong Van Ancient Town and check into your hotel or homestay. Take some time to relax before the evening.

Savor local specialties like fresh pho or sticky rice while soaking in the crisp highland air and the dramatic landscape that defines this rugged region. 09:00: Leave Dong Van and ride towards the emerald waters of the Nho Que River, following scenic mountain roads with breathtaking views of the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing boat trip through the spectacular Tu San Canyon, the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. Surrounded by towering limestone cliffs and crystal-clear waters, this peaceful cruise offers one of the most unforgettable experiences of the Ha Giang Loop.

11:30: Continue to the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, widely regarded as Vietnam’s most spectacular mountain road. Ride along dramatic cliffside curves overlooking the Nho Que River far below, stopping at panoramic viewpoints to admire the breathtaking scenery and capture some of the Loop’s most iconic photos.

13:00: Arrive in Meo Vac for a well-earned lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoy a selection of authentic Vietnamese specialties while taking in the relaxed atmosphere of this charming mountain town, surrounded by spectacular limestone peaks and home to several ethnic minority communities.

14:30: Leave Meo Vac and continue towards the peaceful village of Du Gia, following one of the Loop’s most scenic and less-traveled roads. Stop at Sa Li Pass to admire breathtaking mountain panoramas, traditional ethnic villages, and beautiful terraced rice fields that stretch across the hillsides.

17:30: Arrive in Du Gia Village and check into a traditional homestay hosted by a local Tay family. Relax after the day’s adventure, explore the tranquil surroundings, and experience the warm hospitality and authentic lifestyle of one of Ha Giang’s most charming villages.

09:00: Check out and begin the journey west towards Hoang Su Phi, crossing Ha Giang Province without returning to Ha Giang City. This scenic route takes you through remote mountain landscapes, quiet villages, and winding roads rarely visited by tourists. Motorbike riders can fully enjoy the freedom of the open road, while car passengers relax and take in the spectacular views along the way.

12:30: Stop for lunch near Tan Quang Junction, where you’ll enjoy a well-deserved break before continuing towards the famous rice terraces of Hoang Su Phi.

14:00: Continue along the scenic DT177 Provincial Road towards Hoang Su Phi, where the landscape gradually transforms into a spectacular patchwork of world-famous terraced rice fields. As the road climbs through remote valleys and ethnic minority villages, enjoy some of the most breathtaking scenery in Northern Vietnam.

13:00: Choose the return option that best suits your travel plans.

  • Option 1: Board a comfortable limousine bus directly from Hoang Su Phi to Hanoi.

  • Option 2: Return with the tour by motorbike or car to the Mapi Adventures office in Ha Giang City.

Guests returning to Ha Giang can expect to arrive at approximately 16:00, leaving plenty of time to relax before boarding an overnight sleeper bus to Hanoi or continuing their adventure to other destinations.
